A special Olympic themed DVLA number plates
auction took place last week at the City Hall in London. The DVLA was appointed
an official licensee of London 2012 by the Organising Committee of the Olympic
Games. To mark the occasion DVLA included some specially selected registrations
such as GO11 DEN, OG12 GBR and 2012 OG.
In all 1750 registrations were offered for
sale over the three day event raising £4.7m for the treasury.
Highest prices:
80 O - £35,000
OL11 VER - £30,000
HO11 AND - £20,100
PR11 NCE - £18,500
PO12 TER - £17,000
100 OOO - £17,000
70 O - £16,000
TU12 NER - £15,400
4 HFS - £15,000
BA11 LEY - £14,700
One other registration worthy of a mention was
EN61 AND a resemblance of ENGLAND which sold for £12,000. All prices quoted are
hammer prices by the way and do not include v.a.t. or associated auction fees.

Registrations events manager, said: "Once again we have been left stunned
by the tremendous level of interest in our sale. Linking up with the London
Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games has been a real
success, and once again, we are really pleased that so many people were able to
find their perfect personalised registration."
The next DVLA auction will take place in
September 2012 and will be held at Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge, Surrey.
